WSOTM volume 14

01 JELLE KUIPER – NIET ROKERS
In the ‘early days’ of mobile telephony, company managers tattered their brains about what kind of goodies
they should make available to bind their customers to them. One of them came up
with the idea of ‘peptalks’. Thus, Pim, Jelle and I produced some, unknowningly that we would be left far
behind by ‘de altijd grappige scheet’.

02 THE NEW EARTH GROOP – ABSTRACTIONS 01
After de vogels broke up, some ex-members formed this band intended lift up de vogels’s sound to
‘perfection’. The enclosed track is not an example of this intention.

03 THE 21ST CENTURY – NUMMER 1 (ALTERNATE)
This is a new version of the track Strings01 from the former compilation. Hidde van Schie and I started
recording together under the ’21st century’ flag. Rufus and Roel are also playing along from time to time.

04 J.S. ROZENDAAL – INTERLUDE
A demotape I recorded for the new earth groop as an interlude between the two lengthy tracks of their
debut album. The album will contain a different version, but I somehow liked the recording for
it’s sweet vocoder fxs.

05 KALAHARI SUPER VOODOO – KALAHARI SUPER VOODOO
Rufus and I recorded the soundtrack for the Maher film ‘The Arabian Dream’. This is one of the gems
that we managed to produce in one of our semi-attempt to create arabic music.

06 HOLLAND ELECTRIC – PARKING
Something I recorded inbetween other things. When I stumbled in on it again, I’d rather liked it.
So therefore it is here. With Burroughs on vocals.

07 ARGUS FLEXEUR D’ELECTRIQUE – COLE SLAW
What the f**k?! Who would even dream of giving a hamonica solo in a click’rdeplop breakbeat song.
Well Argus Flexeur is. Special in it’s own right, maar hier breek je natuurlijk niet mee door.

08 ROOM 101 – EE IE EE OO
This is the last song I had to finish before the final Room 101 CD could be released. Check the
‘albums’ page the coming weeks. It will be available for download soon.

09 BART MONO – DAAR HEB IK WELEENS EEN DOCUMENTAIRE OVER GEZIEN
Rufus advised me against using this track, since it was Bart’s surprise for St.Nicholas, meant to be
listened in the prescence of family only. However, I liked it so much and it fitted so well with the former
track that I did it anyway. Sorry.

10 MEGA VS. GIGA – THIS WORLD
Yet anther song from Mega vs. Giga’s unreleased EP. Since I believe that none of them will take the
time to finish it, I slowly start releasing these great energetic songs one by one. This reminds me that
I should put up some New Friend songs in the next editions.

11 RUFUS KETTING – HOMEY UNIVERSALIS
This is something Rufus and I recorded for a presentation at the Rotterdam Electronic Music Festival
(REMF). This is the lengthy WSOTM version. A shorter version (with images!) can be found here.

12 J.S. ROZENDAAL – SOMA
I particularly like this track, because of the minimalistic feel and the overal ‘woolen numbness of
anaestetics’ if i might loosely quote Mr. Stapleton. The vocals are taken from a dramatized version of
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

13. THE 21ST CENTURY – NUMMER 1 (ALTERNATIVE)
This is an outtake from a long lasting and chaotic sessionHidde, Rufus and I did in my basement AKA
Studio Rev. Everything was recorded with just one mike and the endresult is highly compressed.
So now, you not only can hear us play, but also hear us snigger.

14 KALAHARI SUPER VOODOO – PAARDEPOEPIE
A second track that we recorded for the Maher film. According to Rufus, girls seem to find the title
very funny. (hihi, een nummer dat Paardepoepie heet). The guitarsounds are taken from a Bruce
Springsteen track. The Boss rocking a movie about the Islam. How ironic can you get?

15 ROZENDAAL/VAN ALTEN – TANTE TREES
Pim and I, inspired by Trafassi and the Bontjie Stars, made this track years ago in the pursuit of a hit.
To make a long story short, although it got some airplay, the record companies didn’t like it since the
lyrics were ‘too simple’. We thought that simplicity is the way to commercial succes in music, but
apparently we were wrong. Anyway, we had fun and here’s the song.
